Dettagli evento

This workshop, titled “”Disruptive technologies in the Public Sector: how to manage ethical risks and social impacts?”, will provide a space for European policymakers, researchers and practitioners to share know-how and stimulate discussion on the challenges, opportunities and pitfalls of implementing disruptive technologies responsibly in the public sector, learning from the experiences of other similar initiatives and networking.

As such, this event is relevant to public administrations, both national and local, as well as policymakers and researchers grappling with the challenges of implementing disruptive technologies in an ethical and socially responsible manner, particularly in the context of the public services.

The increasing diffusion of Disruptive Technologies (DTs), such as AI, Robotics and Big Data, is opening up great opportunities also within the public sector. But, while these technologies promise huge improvements in the quality of life or efficiency of services, they also open the door to ethical concerns. This is even more important for the public sector, where service providers have greater responsibilities to consider and address the ethical, social and legal repercussions of these technologies.

ETAPAS – Ethical Technology Adoption in Public Administration Services- will develop a set of practical tools to support public administrations in the assessment and management of the ethical risks of DT-based applications with the goal of improving public service delivery for citizens by facilitating the ethical adoption of disruptive technologies in compliance with European and national strategies and guidelines.
